CIPFA is expanding its CIPFA Advisory department and looking for a Senior Financial Consultant. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone looking for a new challenge and working with high profile public and government bodies.
You will be key in helping the team and the wider public sector understand their financial and non-financial challenges, answering the ‘so what’ question and helping the sector and market improve its financial resilience. You will work as part of a wider Advisory team.
We are currently focused on helping the sector with their financial and operational challenges, service improvement (Transformation) and property services. By working with the wider CIPFA Advisory and Policy team, you will help clients assess their financial resilience and develop bespoke data requirements as well as collecting, validating, analysing, and disseminating data and reports to customers across the full range of CIPFA Solutions products.
You’ll be highly motivated, comfortable challenging conventional thinking, and always looking to introduce smarter ways of working.
You’ll be confident defining business needs, developing technical requirements, and proposing practical, value-adding solutions.
You will already have significant experience either working within the public sector in a finance role, or supporting the public sector as a consultant.
Crucially, you’ll bring a well-established network of contacts across the public sector, enabling you to build strong relationships and help expand CIPFA’s reach and support to public sector organisations.
You’ll also share our values of being accountable, open, fair-minded and supportive, and will be comfortable acting as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders
Supporting the design, development, and delivery of the CIPFA Advisory strategic plan
Contributing to corporate initiatives across service areas, including Policy and Marketing
Acting as an external representative at conferences, seminars, and workshops
Supporting the development of market-relevant Advisory approaches
Building, managing, and developing relationships across the public sector
Working with senior stakeholders including Chief Executives, Directors of Finance, politicians, and Non-Executive Directors
Supporting the development of integrated Advisory solutions for the public sector
Preparing proposals, reports, and presentations
Planning and managing project schedules, milestones, and resources
Ensuring successful project delivery (on time, within budget, and within scope)
