SEO / GEO Consultant (client facing, hands on)

• Location: Fully remote (UK core hours)
• Hours: Four-day week, 32 hours
• Reporting to: Head of Operations
• Salary: £36,000 – £45,000 basic depending on experience, plus performance-related bonus
• Start date: Immediate

Marketing Signals has spent nearly two decades helping ambitious brands win on Google. Today we do the same across AI search, SEO, Paid Media and Digital PR, and GEO (generative engine optimisation) is now the fastest growing part of what we sell. We are looking for an SEO / GEO Consultant who can sit in front of a client, explain what is happening and why, and then go and fix it themselves. Not an account manager who hands work to a delivery team. Not a technical specialist who hides from the client call. Both. You will run a small portfolio of retained clients end to end: the strategy, the relationship, the technical audits, the link building, the content briefs, and the reporting that shows it worked.

What you will do

Client ownership

• Be the day-to-day lead for a portfolio of retained SEO and GEO clients
• Run monthly and quarterly reviews, present results and set the next 90 days of priorities
• Translate technical findings into commercial recommendations a marketing director will act on
• Spot upsell and renewal opportunities and bring them to the commercial team
• Support new business pitches with audits, opportunity sizing and proposals

Hands-on delivery

• Run technical SEO audits (crawl, indexation, site architecture, Core Web Vitals, structured data, internal linking) and see the fixes through with client dev teams
• Run GEO audits: how a brand shows up in ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, and what to change to improve it
• Plan and run link building and Digital PR campaigns, working with our outreach team and offshore resource
• Write content briefs that a writer can execute without a second conversation, covering search intent, entity coverage, structure and citation-worthiness for LLMs
• Build and maintain reporting in Looker Studio or similar, pulling from GSC, GA4 and our AI visibility tooling

Claude native ways of working

• Use Claude (Projects, Skills, Claude Code, MCP) as a daily working tool for audits, analysis, brief writing, reporting and client comms
• Build and improve the agentic workflows that let one consultant deliver what used to take three people
• Contribute to our internal Skills and playbooks so the whole team gets faster

What success looks like

Your success is measured on outcomes, not hours logged:

• Client retention across your portfolio
• Organic revenue or lead growth for each client against agreed targets
• AI visibility improvement (share of voice across the major LLMs)
• Audit recommendations actually implemented, not just delivered
• Links and coverage secured against campaign targets
• Portfolio growth through upsell and referral

What we are looking for

You will probably have most of the following:

• 3+ years in SEO, at least some of it agency side, with your own client relationships
• Proven technical SEO ability: you have run audits yourself and can defend the findings to a developer
• Working knowledge of GEO and LLM visibility, or a demonstrable appetite to get there fast
• Experience planning link building or Digital PR campaigns and measuring what they delivered
• Content briefing experience, ideally with published results you can point to
• Confident with GSC, GA4, Screaming Frog, Ahrefs and Semrush
• Daily use of Claude, ChatGPT or similar in your current role, beyond drafting emails
• Clear written and spoken English, comfortable presenting to senior clients

Bonus points for any of: PPC or integrated search experience, basic HTML/JS and schema markup, Python or JavaScript scripting, experience with Claude Code or building custom Skills.
