Our Board of Trustees (known as Council), Co-opted members of Trustee committees and Advisory Board members are a vital part of Battersea, bringing their considerable experience and skills along with real enthusiasm and commitment to these crucial roles to support the delivery of our ambitious organisational strategy.

The Animal Health and Welfare Committee plays a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of care for the animals at Battersea. It provides oversight of governance and expert support for all animal health and welfare activities across our Operations and Clinic directorates.

The Committee helps Battersea maintain best practice in shelter medicine and animal welfare, ensuring our policies and procedures reflect the latest evidence-based approaches and legislative requirements. The Committee’s remit is regularly reviewed to ensure it meets the evolving needs of the charity.

We are looking for co-opted members to join this committee. This is a voluntary position and a co-opted member is not a trustee or employee but has been recruited to join a committee in order to supplement the skills and experience within a committee. They will not form part of the quorum and do not make decisions on behalf of Battersea but their skills and experience help Battersea navigate technical areas and decisions.

We are seeking individuals with expertise in veterinary science, animal behaviour and/or ethical decision making who can bring insight, challenge, and support to Battersea’s work. We would welcome applications from veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses or other allied professions. You should share our commitment to improving the lives of dogs and cats and have the ability to contribute to strategic discussions.
