Artistic Director – The Play House
We are delighted to be recruiting for a new ambitious and creative artistic director to take The Play House forward in its new journey.
Location: Birmingham (flexible)
Salary: £24,000 (equivalent to a full-time salary of £30,000)
Closing date: 12 p.m, Wednesday 19th January 2022
Interview date: w/c 21st February 2022
The Play House is seeking to appoint a dynamic and visionary artistic director to take the company in an ambitious creative direction whilst maintaining the company’s core educational and participatory ethos.
This is a senior executive role working alongside the general manager to ensure The Play House thrives artistically and financially.
A passion for children and young people’s participatory artistic work is essential and is at the heart of The Play House’s practice. This is an exciting time to join The Play House as the company is moving through a period of change with ambitious plans for growth that will be steered by the artistic director and general manager. The Play House has ambitions to be in a position to apply to Arts Council England as a National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) in the next 3-4 years. The company has undergone a period of internal reflection and as a result, we created the new role of Business Development Manager and a programme of Board Development.
We want to be the change we want to see in the arts. The Theatre Industry is disproportionately represented by people who are white, able-bodied, and from a narrow range of socio-economic backgrounds. We seek to encourage applications from those who are currently under-represented in the Theatre Industry and within The Play House.
