The Role

Interested in being part of our journey? We need your curious and creative mindset and we’re currently looking for a Team Lead Frontend Developer.

You will be working on a full spectrum of projects, from high-end clients that are household names, alongside creative start-ups looking to disrupt through technical innovation, to internal projects aimed at making the world a better place (most recently focussed on how technology can revolutionise the way that food banks make the very most of their resources) – no two days will be the same.

You will work alongside an enthusiastic, creative, technical team who have worked at the pinnacle of their craft.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities of a Team Lead Frontend Developer at Riverr…

You’ll form part of the Riverr development team, working on a diverse set of unique and challenging projects that allow users to seamlessly interact with technology.

• Be involved in the whole project lifecycle from project conception to release to production.
• Assisting in the planning and architecture of new web applications.
• An ability to write proposals and communicate ideas through strong visual means, high quality diagrams and supporting text.
• Adding features or enhancements to existing applications.
• Designing and developing web applications including integrations with CMS systems and developing code libraries that can be used for multiple projects.
• Use Jira to create tickets for the development work required on the solution (not functional story tickets), and keep tickets up to date with the latest status.
• Develop secure, robust and scalable code using standard practices and programming techniques that meets the required specifications.
• Ensure deployed code is managed in GIT and thoroughly tested.
• Solution setups in Azure, Netlify and AWS including appropriate automated release pipelines for the solution.
• Provide realistic and achievable timescales against jobs and projects; and ensure they are met.
• Time logs accurately entered into the time tracking tool.
• Contribute ideas and observations for new products or services, efficiency and/or quality improvements and cost savings.
• Work in a fast paced environment.
• Work with Developers and Engineers to put together prototypes and proofs of concept. Partner with your colleagues to turn your concepts into practical demonstrations.
• Staying up to date with new technology and teaching other developers how to incorporate new trends.
• Coach, mentor and oversee work done by junior and intermediate developers.

• Ensures the team is maintaining a high level of quality and is always looking for ways to raise the quality level.
• Able to review and provide feedback on other people’s code. Can provide clear guidance on the correct way to structure code rather than checking if code will achieve the goal set out.
• Works across teams to foster a culture of architecture that allows for iterative, autonomous development and future scaling. Guides several teams in anticipation of future use cases and helps them make design decisions that minimise the cost of future changes.
• Advocates new debugging tools and best practice to the team.
• Fosters a security first mindset across the team, leading by example.
• Provides estimates for complete projects. Is able to flag risks within a potential problem and look for gaps in a specification when creating an estimate.
• Takes ownership and responsibility for organisational practices and processes and their continuous improvement.
• Encourages and promotes knowledge sharing and culture of continuous feedback.
• Fosters a culture within their team where people are encouraged to share their opinions and contribute to discussions in a respectful manner, approach disagreement non-defensively with inquisitiveness, and use contradictory opinions as a basis for constructive, productive conversations.
• Takes ownership of decisions made in their team by helping their teammates make clear decisions in alignment with organisational goals, backing decisions made, and taking responsibility for their success.
• Mentoring and associated practices within the team

• Report in to Head of Digital
• Daily liaison with wider UK production management team
• Daily liaison with delivery teams – development, design, development, QA
• Daily standups with team
