Woodworking & Practical Skills Project Worker
Talkback has been working with people with a learning disability since 1998, aiming to achieve choice, opportunity and respect. We are user led and know what life is like when you have a learning disability.
We are currently looking for someone to join our Accessible Workshop team to enable people with a learning disability and/or autism to learn a wide range of woodworking, practical and real – world work skills within a Social Enterprise model. Groups will work on projects that can be marketed and sold and the income generated will be reinvested back into the group or used to aid the charitable partners that we work with.
Woodworking Project Worker – £18000- £19200 p.a. or pro rata
Part time role available – approx. 3 days a week
No shift work or evening/weekend work
Based across Aylesbury and High Wycombe
Within this role you will be responsible for contributing to the on-going development of this exciting new social enterprise. You will help to plan sessions that enable people to learn practical woodworking skills, build confidence and inspire creativity and personal development.
The successful applicant will ideally have industry experience and a minimum of an NVQ level 3, Advanced Craft Certificate qualification or industry equivalent.
You will have gained the necessary experience from working within the industry or performing a similar role within an educational context. Training in working with people with a learning disability or autism will be given as part of the role.
Above all, Talkback are looking for someone who can use their passion for woodworking and practical skills to teach and inspire others to learn.
From basic safety awareness around the home, through to repairing, creating, upcycling, and developing employment skills; the Accessible Workshop creates realistic progression pathways.
