Background to the role:
Suzy Lamplugh Trust is the UK’s pioneering personal safety charity and leading stalking authority, established in 1986 following the disappearance of 25-year-old Suzy Lamplugh whilst at work. We work towards creating a society in which people are safer – and feel safer – from the prevalence of stalking, harassment, aggression and violence, achieved through education; campaigning; and supporting people. Our stalking helpline advice and advocacy services offer support and advice to thousands of victims of stalking every year. Caseworkers advocate on victims’ behalf with police, social services and other statutory or victim support agencies.
Suzy Lamplugh Trust runs the National Stalking Helpline. Since its launch in 2010, this service has supported over 36,000 victims of stalking. Our UK-wide advocacy service offers in-depth advocacy support to victims of stalking, many of whom are assessed as being at high risk of serious harm.
The London Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) awarded funding to Suzy Lamplugh Trust and partner agencies to continue the London arm of the proof-of-concept Multi-Agency Stalking Intervention Programme (MASIP). This is a ground-breaking intervention programme for stalking perpetrators, in an interdisciplinary setting, involving partners from the health and criminal justice services as well as the voluntary sector. Suzy Lamplugh Trust works with partners from the health and criminal justice sectors as part of the London Stalking Threat Assessment Centre (STAC).
MOPAC also fund the London Stalking Support Service, which supports victims of stalking in London with advice and support. This funding also supported the implementation of a pilot trauma-led approach to advocacy support and the development of a new online platform ‘Am I Being Stalked?’.
This is a maternity cover role.
This role is normally based at our office, or the Stalking Threat Assessment Centre, in London. However, please note that in line with government Covid-19 guidance, the role may initially be worked remotely. Once restrictions allow, we would expect this role to be worked flexibly, with a mix of remote and office-based working, with at least three days office-based (pro-rata for part-time workers).
The Project Officer will assist the STAC Project Manager in managing the STAC project. They will be expected to assist in the facilitation of communication between the Programme Management Office (PMO), the partners and MOPAC. Support to recurring Programme Board meetings and Strategic Steering Committees will be required, as well as maintenance of project documentation. In addition, the Project Officer will support the London and National Stalking Helpline and Advocacy Service Managers in managing their respective projects. This will include organising and taking minutes at internal and external meetings, supporting the preparation of staff rotas, analysing data on outputs from the service to feed tracking of KPI’s or provision of input to reports for internal monitoring and grant funders.
