Salary: £13,500 -£14,500 .5 FTE of £27,000-£29,000 pro rata per anum

About the Service
The Specialist Domestic Abuse Children and Family Support Service is a new service started in September 2020 aimed at enabling the voices of children and young people to be heard through active listening, reassurance, and trauma informed practice. The project also support the mothers and their children to build healthy and positive relationships and recover together. The project works in three Boroughs (Haringey, Islington & Enfield) and provides trauma informed services to children and young people (3-16 years) within the Refuges to help them feel safe and secure.
About the Role
You will provide psychoeducational activities for the children and young people. This includes One Support Sessions with children who are identified by Refuge-based staff as needing additional emotional support. Topics such as Self Esteem & Confidence; Self-care; Healthy relationships; Keeping Safe & Expressing feelings are explored int the sessions. You will also support in the delivering of a newly developed group programme for Mothers and Children attending together. The programme supports mothers to learn new strategies to support her child’s emotions and behaviour, learn about Children’s Development, explore their own self-care and gain better understanding of domestic abuse and impact on children. You will support in the monitoring and evaluation of the project, measuring outcomes for children.
– Relevant experience and of direct work with vulnerable children, Young People and/or Families who have experienced domestic abuse and provide the support to enable them to recover and rebuild their lives.
– Qualification in Social Care, Youth & Community work, or other relevant Qualification at NVQ level 3 and Higher (i.e. Early Years and Education, Play Work, Children and Young People)
– Experience of running mother and child recovery Programmes is desirable
– Experience of delivering Group Programmes desirable.
