About the Role
Skills Development Scotland SME team operates within the Industry and Enterprise Networks department. The purpose of the team is to support employers in addressing skills issues through a range of discrete interventions.
Within the wider team, Employer Engagement Advisers support businesses to implement solutions through facilitation; collaboration; signposting and evidencing expertise. Solutions include SDS products and services but also involve working with other partners including training providers, colleges, Scottish Enterprise, Business Gateway, local authorities and Jobcentre Plus.
Employer Engagement Advisers also work collaboratively at a regional level with key stakeholders to ensure that local SMEs can easily access products and services (in particular our Skills for Growth diagnostic) that meet their skills requirements and supports their business objectives, identify potential gaps in provision and also work with partners to promote Our Skillsforce/ Apprenticehips.scot as the points of contact for all SMEs.
This post fixed term until 31st March 2021 and is for 28 hours per week, however we would consider full time. The role will be based in Inverness and will cover Highland, Moray, Shetland, Orkney and Comhairle nan Eilean Siar.
A driving license is preferred due to travel within some rural areas.
Skills Development Scotland is the national skills body supporting the people and businesses of Scotland in building highly productive workplaces through the development of skills across the range of industry sectors. SDS plays a key role in driving forward Scotland’s economic future through their delivery of the Scottish Government’s economic and skills strategy.
SDS helps the skills and learning system to better respond to the needs of the economy and help individuals benefit from a variety of learning and skills development opportunities.
Educated to SCQF level 6 with demonstrable competencies gained through practical experience, you’ll have a sound knowledge of workforce development issues and a wider understanding of economic development issues that affect SME Businesses. You’ll also have an awareness of the operation of the Scottish Skills System across vocational, further and higher education sectors.
You’ll also have experience of customer relationship management processes and an understanding of the business support environment for SMEs.
