Skills for Bees: Scotland Project Officer
Salary £21,000 (pro rata) per annum
The Bumblebee Conservation Trust (BBCT) is looking for a part-time (0.6 FTE) Skills for Bees Project Officer to lead on delivery of the Skills for Bees: Scotland project.
Your primary role will be to recruit and work with volunteers to increase bumblebee surveying in the Cairngorms area of Scotland, with a particular emphasis on training and mentoring volunteers for the BeeWalk scheme (www.beewalk.org.uk).
To conserve bumblebees, we must first know what species are where, and how they are doing. As the postholder, you would be responsible for recruiting and training volunteers to survey for bumblebees using the standard BeeWalk methodology as well as general recording and targeted surveys of rare bumblebee sites. This would be via training days, refresher courses and mentoring as well as outreach- focused tasks including blogging.
You will have experience of bumblebee identification, ideally including rare species. You will be a clear and fluent communicator, ideally with experience of leading training courses or equivalent. As this is a home-based, remote- working position you will be organised and self-motivated with the ability to work independently. Experience of working with volunteers is desirable.
Please refer to the job description and person specification for more details of the role. This is a 0.6 FTE part-time position, home-based in Scotland with occasional travel throughout the UK. We currently have confirmed funding until April 2022 but are fundraising for it to be a fixed-term 3-year position,
The closing date is 10pm, Sunday 10th October 2021.
Interview date: 22nd October via videoconference
