Read Easy is a volunteer organisation that delivers one-to-one reading coaching for adults who struggle with reading, through a network of affiliated, locally-run volunteer groups. The organisation currently has around 33affiliated groups working in different parts of the country, and a number of further groups in development. Read Easy UK is the umbrella organisation and registered charity that supports this network of affiliated groups and provides the structure, training and support to enable volunteers to establish groups in new areas. The charity operates from a small head office in Blockley, North Gloucestershire and is run by its Chief Executive, supported by a small team. We are now looking for someone to take on the role of Regional Adviser for the London & South East of England. This is a part-time role for 15 hours per week to be worked flexibly, with the possibility of increased hours in the future as the work grows. Candidates will need to be based in the London area.(Please see the final page of this job description for an indication of the areas that the region covers.)
The role of the Regional Adviser is to provide Read Easy’s volunteers with the support they need to deliver Read Easy’s service with consistently high-quality, and to ensure a positive and worthwhile experience for new readers and volunteers alike. Please note that this role requires flexibility, is home-based and involves regular travel within the region to visit groups and occasional evening and weekend working.

Induction and training
The successful candidate will be given one day’s induction at Head Office and a three-month induction period with on-the-job training as required (including with running training). There will also be the opportunity to learn from the experience of other Regional Advisers, including during Team Meetings, both through video conferencing and in person. During the first year, reviews will be held at 3 months, 6 months and one year, and then annually thereafter. The first six months will be a probationary period.
This is a part-time role for 15 hours per week, with the possibility of increased hours in the future as the work grows. Please note that this role is home-based, requires flexibility and involves regular travel and occasional evening and weekend working. The successful candidate will have been employed to work with volunteers for at least two years.
Salary will be paid pro-rata according to the hours worked, based on a full time salary of £25,425per annum plus London weighting. A pension scheme is available.

Regional Advisers need to be willing to travel within a radius of up to two hours travelling distance from their home base, using public transport when viable, in order to work in the following areas, if necessary:
● Central and Outer London
● Counties surrounding London
In due course Read Easy intends to split this region between two Regional Advisers as the number of groups grows. Please note that, although travelling is required to each group at least once a year and sometimes more often, much of the work of the Regional Adviser is carried out from home by phone, email or video conferencing when possible.
