Wales Project Development Officer
Salary £23,000 (pro rata) per annum
This post is based in Wales and will involve travel to Pembrokeshire, Glamorgan and Gwent, with some wider travel as required. The post holder will work from home (flexible location but it would be an advantage to be in south Wales). Hot desk options can be explored.
The Bumblebee Conservation Trust (BBCT) is looking for a part-time (3 days/week) Wales Project Development Officer. Their primary role will be to lead on the development of landscape scale conservation delivery for bumblebees in Wales, in collaboration with partners. In particular, the role will include developing the ‘Saving the Shrill carder bee in Wales’ project as part of the ‘Natur am Byth!’ programme.
The post holder will have demonstrable strengths in partnership working and building relationships, a sound understanding of landscape scale conservation, and experience in project development.
The ‘Natur am Byth!’ partnership unites nine environmental charities and Natural Resources Wales to deliver the country’s largest natural heritage and outreach programme to save species from extinction and reconnect people to nature.
Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Welsh Government, never before has a partnership of so many voluntary organisations and the Welsh statutory environment body worked together in this way to tackle the nature emergency. The 10 ‘core’ partners are Amphibian & Reptile Conservation; Bat Conservation Trust; Buglife; Bumblebee Conservation Trust; Butterfly Conservation; Plantlife; Marine Conservation Society; Natural Resources Wales; RSPB Cymru; Vincent Wildlife Trust. Many other organisations, communities and landowners are working with the project to enable plans for conservation and engagement activity across Wales.
