The role: The post-holder will act as a positive peer role model, and inspire hope and belief in recovery and positive futures. They will promote and demonstrate the values of the charity by being positive, open and honest, actively demonstrating empathy, love, respect, love and fairness, and will contribute actively as a key partner in the design and development of our work at Peer Power.

The Peer Engagement Worker will be committed to social justice, and be able to support and inspire young people to drive system change. They will recruit, engage and support Young Partners through trusted and empathic peer relationships. They will increase the engagement of Young Partners at Peer Power, and facilitate a range of peer led groups that focus on wellbeing, personal development, social action and improving health, social care, violence reduction and justice services.

Some of the projects they could work on are:

• Recruiting and supporting young people who have been affected by violence to be involved in an exciting new project with the NHS to make sure their experiences help to inform and develop violence reduction work in London.
• Supporting Young Partners at Peer Power to develop their social action campaigns.
• Supporting wellbeing and skills development through delivering workshops and pastoral support.
• Supporting Peer Trainers to design, deliver and evaluate their training for professionals.
• Engaging young people in Secure Children’s Homes, Secure Training Centres or Young Offender Institutes to ensure their views and experiences are acted upon.

Who we are looking for: We’re looking for someone who is brilliant at engaging children, teenagers and young adults through strong, caring and positive relationships. Someone creative and motivated, who will bring their own ideas and passion for social change.

We are looking for individuals who have personal experience of trauma and adversity, particularly if they have experience of health, justice or children’s social care services and are able to empathise with and support young people to influence change in these systems.

• You have excellent communication skills, and a high level of social and emotional intelligence.
• You are empathic, fair and kind, and can relate to and connect with people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
• You really understand ‘voice and coproduction’ work and are excited to work alongside the young partners and core team at Peer Power.
• You are passionate about social justice and human rights, opening opportunities up for young people and ‘going the extra mile’ to demonstrate to young people that you care.
• You are ambitious, looking for somewhere you can get learn and bring your experience and you thrive working in fast paced environments where you can influence growth and change.

Contract length: 12 months (extension subject to funding)
