About Pan Intercultural Arts

Pan Intercultural Arts is a leading force in delivering arts for social change through workshop programmes with unaccompanied minor asylum seekers, young refugees, survivors of trafficking and young people at risk of entering crime. Pan works mainly in London but also seeds projects in other towns and cities through its exPansion programme and has founded several Theatre for Development projects overseas.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Pan. The role would be working closely with Pan’s Artistic Director, Company Manager, Communications and Administration Officer and Pan’s project staff. This is a key role within the organisation, working closely with the Pan team to manage, develop and secure the funds to deliver our projects. The current organisation’s annual turnover is £450,000.

The Fundraising Manager is responsible for the fundraising strategy, securing new sources of funding and leading on funding applications, and managing the relationships with our existing funders including regular communications and grant reporting. In conjunction with the Artistic Director, the Company Manager, and Project Directors/Managers, the Fundraising Manager is responsible for securing funding for all projects and core costs for the organisation.

Purpose of Job

The Fundraising Manager is responsible for the fundraising strategy, securing new sources of funding and leading on funding applications, and managing the relationships with our existing funders including regular communications and grant reporting. In conjunction with the Artistic Director, the Company Manager, Project Directors/Managers, the Development Officer is responsible for securing funding for all projects and core costs for the organisation.

This role will lead on the development of all funding streams, including Trusts and Foundations, institutional funding, corporate fundraising, fundraising events, and individual giving to support our artistic programmes and core costs. It will be responsible for building and overseeing the funding pipeline from identification, cultivation, solicitation, to stewardship stages of funders.

This post will manage the work of Pan’s voluntary Development Committee, which develops and supports fundraising events and networks in aid of  Pan. This role will work closely with the Development Committee to oversee their support, maintain their engagement, suggest areas of support, and communicate their ideas to the Pan team and facilitate their initiatives and events.

The Fundraising Manager will ensure good communication across internal and external stakeholders and will help to create an efficient and friendly working atmosphere.

Role & Responsibilities

Fundraising

• Develop the Company’s fundraising strategy identify areas of focus for fundraising and plans for implementation
• Maintaining and grow  our existing funding relationships to maximise income generation
• Build a pipeline of new funding opportunities by researching and identifying organisations Pan is eligible for and keeping track of opportunities
• Develop plans and cultivate potential relationships with trusts and foundations, corporates, and major donors
• Write and develop bespoke funding applications/bids to a high standard and in a timely way in order to secure relevant funds from a range of funders including trusts and foundations, institutional funders, and corporates
• Work with the Artistic Director and internal stakeholders to develop and coordinate specific project funding proposals and bids for each project and core costs.
• Organise fundraising and profile-raising events in collaboration with the Communication Officer and Development Committee
• Research and develop alternative funding streams, in accordance with Pan’s Business Plan
• Manage Fundraising interns and volunteers for specific pieces of work and research
• Maintain an up to date database of fundraising contacts

Strategic

• Collaborate with the Artistic Director and Company Manager to identify and keep track of funding needs and opportunities across Pan’s work
• Facilitate the Company’s long-term artistic vision, working with the Artistic Director to ensure necessary funds are secured to deliver activities
• Actively research and keep up to date with news and developments within the funding landscape in which Pan operates
• Manage the work of the Development Committee, ensuring engagement and overseeing activities run by the Development Committee
• Ensure that the Company is effectively networking at local, regional, national and international levels, maximising awareness of the Company and its work
• To develop a network of relevant contacts in relation to fundraising within the arts/charity sectors

Communications

• Work closely with the Communications and Administration Officer on developing Pan’s profile and reach within the funding landscape.
• Working with the Communications and Administration Officer to ensure funders are appropriately credited and identify opportunities to promote our funding collaborations
• Work closely with the Communications and Administration Officer on fundraising communications across Pan’s work and on the availability of stories that demonstrate Pan’s impact to current and potential funders

General

• Support and provide the necessary information to the Company Manager for budget planning and management accounts
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with all internal stakeholders to gather necessary information
• Communicate reporting and evaluation deadlines and requirements to the Company Manager and Project Directors
• Store all up to date grant information across projects in the shared Drive
• Comply with the Company’s Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, Safeguarding and other key policies at all times
• Represent and advocate for Pan at events where needed
• Ensure effective communications with internal and external stakeholders
• Undertake any other duties which may be reasonably required

Person Specification

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience working within a fundraising role
• A proven track record of writing and securing successful funding applications over £20,000
• Experience working within the arts and/or charity sectors
• Experience managing and developing relationships with a range of funders including Trusts & Foundations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong IT literacy skills including Microsoft Office
• Strong organisational skills
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to manage own workload and to work to deadlines, delivering applications and reports in a timely manner
• An interest and enthusiasm for Pan’s work
• A willingness to undertake a DBS check

Desirable

• An understanding of Fundraising law including GDPR and how this applies in a fundraising  environment
• An understanding and interest of the social arts charity landscape
