About the role 

We are seeking a back end web developer to join our Development team and make a significant contribution to the future of our web platform. You should have a demonstrable track record in product development, preferably using Scala but this is not a prerequisite, in a customer-focused company.

You must have at least 2 years of experience working in a similar development role.

Core responsibilities

• Carry out hands-on development and maintenance on products.
• Assist in the estimation of requirements and the assessment of progress.
• Ensure tasks are carried out in an appropriate time and to a high standard.
• Raise concerns in an appropriate and timely fashion to assist planning.
• Design practical solutions using appropriate technologies.

Core skills

• JVM-based Scala or Java-based software development.
• Test driven development.
• Functional programming and modular system design.
• Code optimisation and performance tuning.
• Innovative approaches to complex data processing, transformation and persistence.
• Immutable, actor-based concurrency models.
• Agile development processes.
• NoSQL, Graph and relational database technologies.
