Communications Officer

The postholder will develop two-way communication with communities and individuals, mainly around Covid 19 messaging. They will also develop a communications strategy to promote positive messages about the work of the organisation. This role will involve working with partner organisations.

Responsible to: Community Development Worker

Location: Erewash Area

Hours: 22 hours per week to be worked flexibly

The main duties of the post will be to:

Work closely with Public Health and other partners to support the COVID community messaging to ensure our communities are receiving up to date and clear messaging as effectively as possible including hard to reach groups.
Attend the weekly Covid Community Champions network meetings.
Recruit Covid Champions across Erewash
Develop a communications plan.
Use the following methods to disseminate information:

o On-line briefing sessions for champions

o Twice monthly newsletter for Champions and the wider EVA network

o Articles in EVA newsletter

o Updates on EVA Social media

o Briefings for EVA staff so they can disseminate reliable information to their clients (e.g. Social Prescribing team)

Evolve and develop our communications to create a much stronger connection to our vision and mission and the values we work with.
Develop processes to engage with our members and our local community.
Set up a community messaging partners network throughout Erewash using current networks and seeking new ones.
Identify key messaging partners – individuals/businesses/groups as a link into the community for key messaging.
Set up a database with relevant contact details of the Community Messaging partners.
Build an understanding of how the varied work of team members contributes to the Erewash Voluntary Action vision and mission and develop processes and campaigns that inspire team members and audiences to recognise this.
Capitalise on the passion in our team members by helping to recognise, demonstrate and celebrate success.
Encourage and support our team to embrace the visual identity so that it is used widely and consistently throughout the organisation.
Produce regular bulletins to members and the wider community.
Support the team members with our social media networks to produce a corporate message.
Keep abreast of new communication tools and platforms as they become available.
Attract press coverage for our work and that of our members.
Carry out agreed monitoring and evaluation.
Contribute to the EVA newsletter.
Contribute to EVA developments, activities and meetings.
Any other duties as required.
