Head of National Community Four Day Week

Who are we?

CodeBase is Scotland’s Tech Scaler. We’re an ecosystem support organisation that helps people to build better tech startups. We provide education, community and space for startups to grow and we work both nationally and internationally to connect all parts of the tech ecosystem. CodeBase opened in 2014, has grown to support startups in 27 hubs across the UK, and has now been appointed to run the Scottish Government’s Tech Scaler nationwide network.

In addition to the existing core CodeBase sites in Edinburgh, Stirling and Aberdeen, we will be opening further regional hubs in Glasgow, Dundee, Inverness and Dumfries to increase the Tech Scaler support across Scotland.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who is an excellent communicator, collaborator and all round people person. You’ll be someone who understands the tech startup landscape and the needs of our rapidly growing community, at different stages of their startup journeys. You’ll have experience working with multiple stakeholders and coordinating teams to deliver first class events. We want someone who has a passion for creating an inclusive and accessible community where people from all backgrounds and with varied lived experiences feel welcome and supported.

You’ll be able to plan strategically and understand how best to deliver on strategies, working across teams and locations.

This is one of several new roles which have been created to deliver Tech Scaler expansion commitments.

What will you be doing?

• Working closely with Heads of Regional Engagement and Community Managers to understand the business needs of CodeBase tenants
• Working with the VP of Community and Head of Online Community to shape and deliver a Community strategy that prioritises inclusivity, accessibility and support
• Working with the Community team to manage partner relationships, identify education needs and opportunities for peer to peer learning, signposting to other services where required.
• Creating a national in-person event strategy to deliver large scale and high profile hybrid events while supporting the regional Community Managers to deliver smaller events which meet the needs of the local communities
• Working with ecosystem events organisers and partners to support external events in CodeBase spaces which are relevant to Community interests and needs
• Working closely with the Head of Online Community to ensure alignment between online and offline events, support and signposting
• Collaborating with other CodeBase teams including Partnerships and Education to share resources and learning
• Travelling frequently to other locations across Scotland with occasional overnight stays

What do we need from you?

• Experience of managing a business related community
• Experience delivering successful in-person or hybrid events with multiple stakeholders
• Knowledge of (or interest in) the tech startup ecosystem
• A demonstrable ability to manage relationships, build new connections and develop networks
• Experience of contributing to and developing strategies at an organisational level
• Excellent organisational skills and project management abilities

• £60k per annum
• 4 day working week
• 23 days holiday + 2 weeks off over Christmas and New Year

About the job

Work Days: This role is 28 hours a week over 4 days (day off to be decided with line manager), 9am – 5pm

Location: Based at one of our regional hubs, with frequent travel to other hub locations and across Scotland.
