A chance to join, run and breathe life back into an already established business, as we pivot to becoming a totally sustainable, direct to consumer nursery brand.
Work remotely with no investment into the business required by you, and receive remuneration based on a split of the profits.
Background by James the founder:
I started BoBo Buddies in 2013. In that same year I appeared on Dragon’s Den, receiving five offers from all five dragons, before turning them all down. In the following three years we sold over 250,000 BoBo Buddies, supplying over 800 retailers, with global distribution in over 20 countries.
In 2016, we had a great opportunity with a toy distribution company that wanted to take over the business. We closed our London office and I took a step back from the day to day, to focus on family and other businesses. There continued to be another great few years of sales and happy customers, but sadly the distribution company decided to close and now the BoBo Buddies brand is sitting quietly to one side.
I love this brand and believe it has huge potential, but I need someone strategic and creative to work alongside me and help breathe life back into it. The great part is that we still have sales coming in, with an established supply and operations set-up. And most excitingly, it is a profitable business (making £40,000 net profit last year, and £52,000 net profit the year before that) with barely any time spent working on the business.
It’s now time to give this brand the attention it deserves, and to find someone who can help steer it in a new direction – with a focus on it becoming a totally sustainable, direct to consumer brand.
The role will include:
Revisiting the branding
Re-doing the website
Re-establishing social media channels and creating content. Oscar, the toddler in our photos is now 8 – that’s how old our photos are!
Managing the customer experience – from answering enquiries, to conceptualising beautiful mailboxes with hand written notes.
Product Development: Work on new toy designs, liaising with toy designers and factories, and sourcing new eco materials.
Sales: Creating listings on 3rd party website, like Amazon if we decide to go down that route. And working with retailers if we decide to do some wholesale, using our existing database.
The right person should:
Be full of energy and ready to run at this and take charge. You will have a huge amount of decision making power and autonomy, so someone who can lead and run with things.
Be Creative – if you have a background in graphic design, or toy design, so much the better.
Have experience in running marketing campaigns, social media channels and email newsletters.
The role is part-time – number of days to be determined.
You will be your own boss.
You can work however often you like, as long as goals are met.
You can work from wherever you want.
Remuneration to be discussed, but I envisage a generous split of the profits.
No investment into the business required from you. The business has a strong cash position.
I’d certainly be open to offering equity once we’ve worked together for some time.
